This is my Sieg X1 mini mill, the dreaded electronic speed control and the DC motor and the plastic gears have been replaced with a more powerfull AC motor with 5 step pulleys and belt drive.

The conversion gives more power and a quieter machine altogether. The spring with the mole grips act as a counter weight as the new motor is mounted to the side of the column and is heavier than the DC motor it replaces. I did intend to make a bracket to fix the spring to the side of the machine but it works fine as it is so I never got round to it.
